Wisp Resort's Mountain Coaster in McHenry, Maryland

Shot back in February 2008, this video is of Wisp Resort's Mountain Coaster and it runs about 5 minutes long and gives you a nice, virtual tour of what kind of great fun is awaiting you.

As the cart crests the top of the track on the eastern side of Marsh Mountain, spectacular views of Deep Creek Lake appear as the carts begin the 350-foot vertical descent. The course is constructed of stainless steel tubular rails that turn, twist, corkscrew, dip and roll for 3,500 feet. With manual brake levers on both sides of the cart, riders can control their level of excitement while peaking at a speed of 25 mph.

The Mountain Coaster was designed, engineered and installed through Wiegand of Germany. The Wiegand Company has been building toboggan runs for more than 25 years. More than 80 Mountain Coasters operate in Europe, and Wisp joins three other destinations in the United States—Park City, Utah; Glenwood Springs, Colorado; and Jiminy Peak, Massachusetts—who offer Mountain Coasters.
