Shovel. Plow. Repeat. – ahhh, the sweet sounds of winter return to Wisp Resort and the Deep Creek Lake Area! After a morning of steady under-developed snow, by 12:30pm it had developed into full fledged huge white SNOWFLAKES! At 4:15pm, Wisp recorded 6 inches of snow and it continues to fall. All of the equipment was coming out to begin clearing the way – plow, snow blower, tractor, skid steer and shovels!

Wisp’s Director of Mountain Operations, Artie Speicher, reported, "Our team is watching the temperatures closely but it has been too humid to begin making snow this afternoon. I am anticipating the wet bulb will reach optimal conditions for snowmaking in the late evening to early morning hours."

Wisp plans to open for the 2011/2012 Winter Season on Saturday, December 17, weather permitting. Wisp Resort’s 56th Birthday Celebration has been rescheduled for Sunday & Monday, December 18 & 19, featuring $10 1-day lift tickets along with 1/2 price rentals and lessons.
