Wisp is a four-season mountain resort located in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States; Wisp Ski Resort is the only place to Ski in MD. An ever-evolving resort, Wisp Resort opened for Skiing in MD in 1955 and has since managed to stay on the forefront of snowmaking, grooming and cutting-edge ski and snowboard technology, putting it in the same category as some of the places to ski out West. With 32 open trails and runs and 13 state-of-the-art ski lifts, crowds are managed easily and you have plenty of space to ski and explore. The terrain is geared to all levels of skiers or snowboarders and the new region that opened during the 05’/06′ Wisp season, North Camp, has over 70% of the terrain devoted to beginner level runs. Overall, Wisp Resort in Wisp MD caters as well to expert offering more than a third of the skiable terrain as expert level runs.

Wisp Resort rests on more than 65 miles of shoreline on Deep Creek Lake in McHenry MD. This area is located in the state’s westernmost county, making it an easy travel to large cities like Pittsburgh, D.C. and of course, Baltimore. In addition to adding numerous new features including chair lifts, terrain park additions and the almost brand new trails at North Camp, Wisp Resort has also updated their snowmaking technology, allowing for an increase in snowmaking capacity. A new pumphouse maximizes snowmaking capacity for Wisp Resort and therefore skiers and boarders no longer have to look to the sky for natural Garrett County Snow. Not only is the new pumphouse one of the largest in the country, it is also one of the most energy efficient in the world, featuring an airless snowmaking system that seems to perfectly mimic Mother Nature by laying foot after foot of snow upon the skiable acres at Wisp.
