16.17 Winter Season Comes to an End

Wisp Resort in McHenry, Maryland Posted this Announcement on Sunday Afternoon.

Due to the historic, unseasonably warm rainy weather, Snow Tubing, Ice Skating and Slope conditions have deteriorated to a degree that Wisp Resort is closing for the season as of 5 pm Sunday, February 26. The forecast for the next several days calls for continued high temperatures in the upper 50’s with more rain. There is no sign of any winter weather over the next several weeks.  After opening on December 16 and closing February 26, Wisp operated for 72 consecutive days this winter.

The Mountain Park will continue to operate on weekends with the Mountain Coaster, Aerial Ropes Courses, Archery and Gem Mining.  Operating schedules will be announced soon.  Please visit our Hours of Operation page for the most current schedules.

Thanks to all who have done a stellar job in making the most we could out of a difficult season.

Wisp also posted this Monday afternoon:

The chairs stopped turning for the 16.17 Winter Season at 5:00pm on Sunday, February 26.  It wasn’t an easy announcement and it certainly wasn’t an easy winter.  Wisp Resort has never seen a closure in February (and we hope to never again) but with long faces all around the resort, we finally raised the white flag to Mother Nature.

We sincerely thank all of our guests, staff and valued season pass holders for seeing us through this abnormal winter.  Please check our blog often for the latest and greatest at Wisp Resort.
