While Snowshoe in West Virginia and Appalachian & Sugar in North Carolina have opened…other resorts have had to take what Mother Nature has provided thus far…and to say it nicely Old Mom Nature has been kinda stingy.

Appalachian and Sugar are each skiing with two trails today, Snowshoe is playing on four today…and well…the rest are still struggling to make snow whenever possible. It’s EARLY so don’t fret…THIS WILL BE a great winter as is being forecasted by all of the experts out there. We actually have appointments with TWO Cherokee Indian princesses that promise that their Snowmaking Dances are something to be seen…um, I mean that they are productive. We’ll advise you on that later today or tomorrow!

Some news about the rest?

Cataloochee Resort in North Carolina plans to open on Saturday. Hawksnest, Sapphire and Wolf Laurel are looking to make snow as weather permits and open closer to the middle of the month now.

In Virginia, Wintergreen was the only resort that made snow thus far and they are TRYING to get ONE trail open for Saturday. Stay tuned and we’ll keep you updated.

In West Virginia, you already know about Snowshoe’s grand conditions…considering…and Timberline also made snow of late…but they, Canaan and Winterplace are all looking at December 10th, 11th or slightly later opening dates.

Check the updated ski report for the rest…AND THINK SNOW MY PEOPLE! THINK SNOW AND COLD.
