The snow report this morning reflects two ski resorts OPEN. Those are Appalachian Ski Mountain in Blowing Rock, North Carolina with 8 slopes and trails operating – and Snowshoe Mountain Resort in Snowshoe, West Virginia with 36 slopes and trails open.  Both resorts are operating for both Saturday and Sunday for DAY SESSIONS ONLY.

Appalachian Ski Mountain will be operating from 9am-6pm both days and Snowshoe Mountain Resort will operate from 9am-4:30pm both days.

I spoke with Susan over at App and she told me that their crews really worked their magic in creating a perfectly groomed surface for these last two days. App will show off side to side coverage and NO thin coverage areas or bare spots on the one-half of their mountain that is open for these last two days.

As far as we know, this is the latest that Appalachian Ski Mountain has ever operated and they are doing so to raise money for the Middle Fork Greenway Initiative.

Ski Tickets will be discounted up to 50% off normal rates for guests who stay at any High Country Lodging facility or for any local resident (Watauga, Avery, Ashe, Johnson, Caldwell, or Wilkes County). Special “3-for-the-price-of-1” packages are also available for a ski ticket and a choice of two local attractions: The Blowing Rock Attraction, Doc’s Rocks Gem Mine, Grandfather Mountain, or Mystery Hill.

In addition to Saturday’s ski ticket sales, leading sponsor Yadkin Bank and over 30 Tourism industry partners are collaborating to donate a percentage of Easter Weekend revenues to the Middle Fork Greenway Initiative.

On Easter Weekend, Ski for the Greenway!

To compliment this Bonus Easter Ski Weekend, on Sunday, April 5, Appalachian Ski Mtn. will host a Super Pond Skim at 2pm with an extended pond of well over 100 feet long! This will be by far the largest Pond for skimming ever constructed at ASM – who’s making it across?
