Thomas Probst’s Trail Report for Ski Beech December 20th

On Snow

When arriving at beech at 6:30 it must have been 40 degrees. I noticed the snow guns were off so no need for goggles. When I got my pass and hopped on the quad I looked around and there must have been 100-200 very lucky people on the slopes.

No wind, great temperature and fresh snow from the guns on the ground. Right before I got off the lift I looked to my left and noticed a skier against the lift house pull a huge back flip right after he got off the lift. That put me in the mood. I turned on my ipod and got into my own world, strapping up my bindings, and I was off.

The run that I did was Upper Shawneehaw which had great moveable snow for carving, then took the drop for major speed into Lower Shawneehaw it had a little less coverage of snow which just increased the adrenalin with the increase in speed. Leading into the combo of these three trails; Powder Bowl, Freestyle and ending up with the two little kickers at the end of the Play Yard. I didn’t even stop to pause once on this run, and took ten more just like it. Eating up the fact there were no lines and newbees falling and getting in my way. It was the first time I was out this year and it felt great to have soft snow under my 164 which was great for my type of boarding I do just smooth transitions from heel to toe that just propels you to let loose. I can’t wait to get back up on the mountain.
