Forecast update:

The first part of the storm is really going to be more rain than snow. The problem has been that the rain has mixed in with snow longer in the higher elevations which is going to knock the totals down for this first part of the storm. The second part of the storm is blowing up right now in the Gulf of Mexico, still looks like there we be more cold air to work with in this part of the storm. The snow should start a little quicker after a lull this afternoon and evening. Tonight around 10 or 11 pm I expect the snow to start picking back up in the high country. We’ll have to keep a close eye on the track of the low, but for now a 3-5” snowfall at the higher elevation is the forecast. There could be additions light snow showers on the backside of the systems as it pulls away from the area and we get some northwest flow snows on Friday and Saturday.

I’ll update as I get some new data this afternoon and evening. The first wave of precipitation is really just an ugly rain with some wet snow at higher elevations.

Good skiing!

Brad
