The Sugar Maples are ALWAYS among the first trees to turn to Autumn colors and this season is no different. Many of the Sugar Maples around the Appalachian State University campus are already looking pretty sweet, whereas maples around Beech and Sugar are popping Fall color already.
Snowshoe and the high elevations of Canaan Valley, Timberline and Wisp Resort also tend to reach peak color season as early as late September and early October.
