The Changeover is Already Happening!

We just received one report from across Sugar Mountain that even though it was still lightly raining at the bottom of Sugar, they were already MAKING SNOW at the top. According to Sugar’s website it is currently 35.9° at the summit and 42° at the base, but you can bet Sugar is making snow somehow!

It’s 34° atop Beech Mountain but no snowguns running just yet.  Nothing yet happening at Cataloochee, App or Wolf either. It’s only a matter of time before the temp drops another degree or two and the snowguns will refire!

Laura Parquette up at Snowshoe just dropped me an email, "Hey Mike, Just a quick update for you. The rain has turned to snow here at Snowshoe. For a while we were getting really large, fast-falling flakes. Grassy areas, benches, etc already have a nice white coating. Temps must have risen in the last half an hour, because I was just outside and we’re back to tiny, frozen, hail-like balls. Hopefully temps will continue to plummet and we can get back to some nice snow. With temps already down, we’re getting ready to fire up the guns. We need it to get a little colder, since the air is so wet, but we should have guns on by 3pm.  Looks like Mother Nature is cooperating for those joining us for the Camp Out this weekend! Think Snow! Laura."

I and several thousands of others are all THINK SNOW!

Bring on the snowguns and cold temps!

Until later…
