Cataloochee Ski Resort After School Program 2009-2010 Season
Cataloochee Ski Area has always offered some great specials and offerings to those that live in the surrounding area and its new after school and Kids Ski Free programs are especially great for parents in the area. Starting in January, Cataloochee Ski Resort will begin offering an after school program at Cataloochee Ski for children in 4th and 5th grades and middle school. Parents can sign up and register their children for the amazing Cataloochee Ski Resort after school program and rest assure that their kids will be enjoying an active lifestyle after school, and learn new ski and snowboarding skills all the while. If your child loves to ski or snowboard or has a desire to learn, and you live in Haywood County, the after school program at Cataloochee Ski Area might be for you. Here are a few details about this amazing program for young skiers and snowboarders, or those that want to get into the sports. The program is offered through the Cataloochee Ski School which is a member of the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) and the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI).

The 4th and 5th Grade program offers two after school programs, which run for four weeks each. Students can choose skiing or snowboarding, or opt to participate in both. Skiing will be on Fridays on these dates: January 8th, 22nd, 29th and February 5th (please make special note that the program is not offered January 15th in honor of MLK day), and snowboarding will be offered on the following Friday dates: February 12th, 19th, 26th and March 5th. Each Friday that the child participates he or she will meet with other students in their age group and receive guided instruction from Cataloochee’s ski school professionals. This year marks the second year for the middle school age level for the after school program and students can choose from skiing or snowboarding, each of which runs for four weeks. Dates for the middle school lessons are on the following Thursdays: January 21st and 28th, and February 4th and 11th. Keep in mind that snowboarding class size for both the middle school and the 4th and 5th grade program is regulated to 40 students who need rental equipment from Cataloochee Ski Area, and students will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. Snowboarding students with their own equipment may register at anytime.

The fees for the Cataloochee NC after school program at Cataloochee Ski Area are incredibly cheap! The skiing program for 4th and 5th graders costs just $70 per student, $80 per student for snowboarding, and just $150 per student for both programs. This amazing price includes your child’s rental equipment, lift passes and ski or snowboard instructional lessons. Children that have their own equipment and season passes already are invited to join the program as well, at the same price. Middle school student prices are as follows, $80 per student for skiing and $100 per student for snowboarding. Scholarships are available for deserving students in both programs, please contact your child’s school principal if you feel your child qualifies.

Kids Ski Free at The Cat*
Families with children will love this! Children 17 and under can stay overnight free at participating Maggie Valley Accommodations locations and ski free when they accompany a paying adult. Currently, the participating Maggie Valley Lodging businesses are Johnathan Creek Inn, Boyd Mountain Cabins, the Maggie Valley Microtel Inn & Suites, and the Maggie Valley Ramada Limited.

*Paying adults that are staying overnight (any non-holiday Sunday through Thursday) at one of these participating locations will receive a dated voucher for a complimentary child’s lift ticket at Cataloochee Ski Resort which is good for skiing on any non-holiday weekday. Restrictions apply, and you must be 21 years or older to qualify as the paying adult; there is a limit of two free children per room per paying adult. The paying adult must purchase a full price adult lift ticket at the ski area in order to use the “Kids Ski Free” vouchers. This offer is not valid with any other discounted programs. The motel portion of the program is offered on any non-holiday Sunday through Thursday; the skiing portion of the offer is available for any non-holiday Monday through Friday. Children must be 17 or under to qualify to receive free lift tickets.
