A Tepid Day on Tap

Yesterday, I made it out for a quick ‘triple-threat’ (tele, ski, and ride) at Cataloochee. It’s the time of the year, where I enjoy ‘keeping it interesting’ and getting some late season laps on all 3 fun machines.

What I’ve discovered is that the order of fun matters . . . and for good reason. I usually start out on tele’s (which is my weakness) where the snow is firm and I need to have the most concentration on linking turns. Then, I switch to downhill skis where I can rip down the mountain and feel really dialed-in. Finally, I break out the snowboard where the stoke is high and can play around in the soft snow, and enjoy most of the features.

Maybe some day I’ll find that elusive mono-board at a garage sale in town, and turn the ‘triple threat’ into a ‘quad(ricep) shred’ . . . literally AND figuratively!

Yesterday, through the trees at CAT . . . the 3 new terrain parks.
