Get ready! The annual event that seemingly ushers in the upcoming winter NC Ski season at Sugar Mountain Ski Resort is coming up soon, and this year’s jam packed schedule of fun events, complete with star Olympians, promises to provide the winter thrills and fun that you have been waiting for since the last time you hit the powder. Ski Sugar’s 7th Annual Sugar Mountain Festival, Sugarfest 2009, is slated to take place December 12-13, 2009, and its events and competitions coincide with Sugar Mountain Resort’s 16th Annual Adult Preseason Ski Clinic and the 40th Anniversary of Sugar Mountain Resort this year. At Sugarfest 2009 and the preseason clinic you can learn tips and tricks from the pros, enjoy great food and entertainment and try out merchandise from Salomon, Volkl, Nordica, Burton, Head, Never Summer, K2, Atomic, Dynastar, Rossignol, Ride, Line Fischer, and Forum. Sugar Mountain Resort’s Sugarfest 2009 is sponsored by the Village of Sugar Mountain Tourism Development Authority (TDA). Here is a quick breakdown of the events:

Saturday Dec 12
• 8:30am to 7:00pm – 1st day of Preseason Adult Ski Clinic taught by 1994 Olympic Gold & 1992 Olympic Silver medalist Diann Roffe and Krista Schmidinger
• 9:00am to 3:30pm – Consumer Demo Available
• 10:00am & 1:00pm – Ice Skating with Olympic Silver medalist Paul Wylie
• 3:00pm – Snowball Eating Contest
• 4:00pm to 7:00pm – Ski After Party featuring live entertainment from Boss Hawg
• 5:00pm – 40th Anniversary for Sugar Mountain Resort! Come celebrate with cake, ice cream & refreshments!
• 5:45pm – Fireworks Display

Sunday Dec 13
• 8:30am to 3:00pm – 2nd day of Preseason Adult Ski Clinic
• 9:00am to 3:30pm – Consumer Demo Available
• 10:00am – Ice Sculpting
• 12:00pm – Burton Rail Jam Session sponsored by Edge of the World
