HERES’ THE SKIER’S FORECAST FOR THE MIDATLANTIC AND SOUTHEAST RESORTS:

A good shot at some snow… especially for Christmas night into Tuesday. It’s too early to take a stab at any accumulations, but from here it looks like more than just a dusting or flurries….

For WISP, TIMBERLINE and CANAAN…. A mix of sun and clouds for Christmas Eve with highs around 40 degrees. Things remain dry Sunday night with clouds on the increase as temperatures fall into the middle 20’s. Christmas Day could start off with some snow flakes in the morning, changing over to light rain showers as the mercury climbs back into the upper 30’s. The snow makes a comeback for Monday night and Tuesday when temperatures hold around 30 degrees.

At SNOWSHOE… A dry but cool Christmas Eve… partly cloudy with highs in the lower 30’s. Increasing clouds Sunday night with lows in the upper 20’s. Christmas Day brings scattered rain showers with highs around 40 degrees. The moistures lingers as temperatures fall for Monday night and Tuesday changing the rain into light snow. Highs on Tuesday only hit the middle 20’s.

WINTERGREEN, VA – A sunny Christmas Eve with temperatures in the lower 50’s. Clouds will be on the increase Sunday night with rain showers on Christmas Day as temperatures climb into the upper 30’s. Rain showers stick around for Monday night as temperatures hold around 34 or 35 degrees. More "liquid snow" on Tuesday with temperatures in the low 40’s.

OBER GATLINBURG, TN – A sunny Christmas Eve with highs in the middle 50’s. Increasing clouds with showers developing Sunday night as temperatures fall into the upper 30’s. More showers on Christmas Day with temperatures in the middle 40’s. Rain showers change over to light snow for Monday night with temperatures falling into the low 30’s.

HERE’S THE OUTLOOK FOR THE WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA MOUNTAINS….

Sunny and low 50’s for Christmas Eve across the High Country. Clouds and showers move in Sunday night as an area of low pressure approaches from the Gulf of Mexico. Temperatures hold around 34 or 35 at night. By Christmas Day, the rain is widespread, with gusty winds from the south around 20 to 30 mph at times. Monday night the rain changes over to snow with temperatures falling into the middle 20’s. Lingering snow hangs around through the early afternoon on Tuesday with temperatures in the middle 30’s.
