Snowshoe Mountain will officially kick off its Holiday celebration today with their annual skiing Santa and Friends. Before he heads off for a busy two days, Santa will enjoy the slopes of the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic’s #1 Ski Resort

Snowshoe, W.V.— Santa Claus made annual visit to Snowshoe Mountain today, getting in a few turns before he heads out on his long holiday journey.

Santa and friends took advantage of Snowshoe’s region’s-best terrain and amazing conditions, due in part to the 28” of snow the resort received over the weekend. Snowshoe opened additional terrain today, bringing the resort’s total to 48 open slopes and more than 100 skiable acres between the Snowshoe basin and Silver Creek areas, by far the most open terrain of any resort in the region.

Among those 48 slopes is Snowshoe’s Cupp Run in the Western Territory, which made its season debut today. Cupp offers skiers and riders 1.5miles and 1,500 vertical feet of expert terrain. The slope was originally designed by legendary skier Jean Claude Killy, a 3-time Olympic Gold Medalist. With continued cold weather in the forecast, Snowshoe plans to continue to open new terrain as we head towards the new year, with hopes of being 100% open with 60 slopes by mid-January.

Guests spending the Holidays will not only be able to take advantage of some of the best conditions in recent memory, but also a variety of family-friendly activities. From horse-drawn sleigh rides and the resort’s 5-lane tubing hill, to holiday parties and craft sessions, the resort is a winter wonderland and the perfect destination for Holiday fun. Some availability still remains for the Holiday period, and conditions this good will linger long after the New Year. Call 877-441-4FUN or visit snowshoemtn.com to plan your Snowshoe escape today.
