There’s lots going on this coming weekend in the world of North Carolina Skiing around the High Country ski areas of Ski Beech Resort and Ski Sugar. January is always a great month to visit the North Carolina Ski Resorts near Banner Elk and Boone, and with the fantastic weather conditions coming up coupled with the fun events slated to happen, we’re thinking many of you will be heading up to Ski Beech NC, Sugar Mountain Resort, and Appalachian Ski Mountain to enjoy some NC Skiing.
This weekend, January 9th-10th, head up to Beech Mountain and enjoy a phenomenal party at an elevation above 5,000 feet! Ski Beech’s Winterfest Weekend is always a lot of fun and this year’s event will include live music, Beech’s bathing beauty contest, the big air contest, the Village rail jam, the infamous cardboard box derby, delicious food, demo offerings, and plenty of great sales at the ski shop. On Saturday, head out to Sugar Mountain Resort for the 15th Annual National Winter Trails Day! Many skiers and boarders have never tried snowshoeing and this day offers a special chance to try snowshoeing at Sugar Ski Resort for absolutely no cost! That’s right, it’s free! Children and adults can get a free snowshoe rental and take part in the free guided tours which depart at 9 AM, 11 AM, 1 PM and 3 PM. The free tour lasts approximately an hour and adults (12 years and older) and children (8-11 years old) are separated into groups. Those looking to take part are asked to sign up at least 15 minutes prior to the time at which you would like to tour. Some great things are planned for this coming weekend at the Blowing Rock Ski Resort, App Ski Mtn. Snowboarders can check out the second of Appalachian’s Fresh Friday’s this Friday, January 8th, 2010. Fresh Fridays are fun, relaxed jam contests where riders can register (from 5:00 – 6:30) to ride and compete to win free gear and some other awesome prizes. The session lasts from 7:00 – 8:00 and the awards ceremony takes place afterwards. The jam session features in the terrain park are left up all weekend for all to enjoy during this time! On Saturday night, Appalachian Ski Mountain will offer Ladies Park Night in the App Terrain Park. The terrain park team will set up park features that are specially designed for ladies and perfect for learning. This Saturday night starting at 7:00 PM the park will be open to ladies only; boarders and skiers are welcome! Also, at App Ski Mtn the Shred for the Cup Slopestyle competition is slated to take place, with registration limited to the first 150 participants per event challenge. All of those participating in the Shred the Cup at App will receive a free lunch and a Shred for the Cup t-shirt.
