2”-3” of snow has fallen across some of the Western North Carolina mountains and snow is on the way into West Virginia and Maryland .  Here’s some details.

Appalachian Ski Mountain added 3” to the base yesterday and it wasn’t from the snowguns.  3” of wet snow fell over in Blowing Rock, before turning to rain late last night. Conditions will be pretty good for the second day of Spring.  App’s in great shape headed to “Meltdown Games” weekend.

Cataloochee didn’t report any snowfall overnight but they are open today from 1pm to 10pm with eight trails and 4 lifts.

Everything else in North Carolina is closed for the season.

Heading NORTH into Virginia and the only resort still operating their slopes is Wintergreen.  We received some conflicting emails yesterday about conditions up there.  Expect Spring Conditions, some thin coverage and bare spots on their trails as the day progresses.  They have groomed them this morning and moved some snow around and conditions should be pretty good today. They are in plenty decent enough shape to make it to this Sunday’s closing date. (They will reopen for April 1st and 2nd for their season closing festivities on the mountain.)  Today they offer 15 groomed trails and 4 lifts.

Into West Virginia we go… Snowshoe is at 22° and is now getting the snow that made its way through North Carolina last night.  Today is going to be cold with flurries already in the air and more snow in the forecast. Be advised that the Western Express Lift will be opening at 10 AM today. With over 35 open trails there is a variety of nice terrain to choose from. All open trails were groomed overnight except for Knot Bumper and Choker. Start making your plans to join us this weekend for our annual Mountaintop Beach Party Music Festival. For this weekend we are offering a special 2 day/2 night lodging package for only $109. Call 877-441-4FUN for reservations and more information. Enjoy fun and games on the slopes, live entertainment, fireworks and more.

All of the anticipated snow and the 7th Annual Mountaintop Beach Party and Music Festival will make for an awesome weekend on the mountain.   Everyone can enjoy games and activities on the slopes and in some of your favorite establishments.  Right now check out the beach party weekend special where you can get two nights of lodging and two days lift tickets for only $109 per person!

For those of you looking for some great skiing and riding for free (who isn’t!) don’t miss the end of season ski free deal.  From March 26 – April 2, when you book three or more nights lodging you will receive your lift passes for free!  This includes our Last Hurrah Weekend with the annual pond skimming competition, live entertainment and more.  You can’t beat skiing for free, so come and join me for the last few runs of the season in the mid-Atlantic over the next two weeks.

Its 17° and Timberline is doing some grooming to prepare the 26 open trails to be their best for you guys today!  Timberline is getting some light snow this morning and more is expected as the day progresses.

Winterplace is at 32° and light snow is falling on their 24 open trails.  They should be a nice shape as they’ve done some grooming overnight and snow should fall most of the day.

Go have fun people.  There’s some snow falling and some pretty nice conditions out there so GO GET ‘EM.

Until Next Time!
