Reported by Gresham Barker of Greenville, SC, Sunday, Dec. 11, 2004 – Well I hit Sugar for my first turns of the season. All I can say is, for the weather we have had in the past week, Sugar was looking pretty darn good. They had received 5-6" of new snow overnight and I was third on the lift to crush the natty powder. It was great! I and about 10 other people had the whole mountain to ourselves until about 12 – 1 then the chruch crowds started showing up. Anyway I was ready to leave because the surface was starting to deteriorate from all the runners. Still….excellent coverage and great combo of natty and manmade powder. Hardly any ice at all. The guns were a blowin’ and that’s one of the main reasons I was ready to head home. (Tired of a frozen face.)

Look for Sugar to open up more trails real soon. The base is in place and things are looking up!! Didn’t have a chance to cruise up to Beech but I called on the way this morning and they plan to open Tuesday. Enjoy and THINK SNOW!!!!!!

Editor’s Note: Gresham is one of our On-Snow Reporters and the photo of the day is his as well. Check out the Photo of the Day link and see more of his images on Monday.
