WISP RESORT WEATHER

There’s a 30% chance of rain for Tuesday then nearly 100% chance of rain and perhaps 1-2" of it on Wednesday. Highs Tuesday will be around 45° and lows tonight holding at about the same. Wednesday starts out the same but colder air will invade the Garrett County Maryland resort as lows drop to 24° and that means that SNOW will be in the forecast. It should be light snow Thursday and Friday with highs in the low to mid 30s and lows in the teens. The weekend looks perfect with sunny skies and highs in the 32° range on Saturday and slightly milder on Sunday.

WEST VIRGINIA SKIER’S FORECAST

Check out the forecast for Wisp and tweak things down a degree or two and "ditto" the forecast. Look for rain today and tonight…and then snow through Friday night.

VIRGINIA SKIER’S FORECAST

The Virginia resorts have been a bit starved for snow and this week won’t be any different. Look for rain today and Wednesday and then some changeover to light snow Thursday night and Friday (lesser chance on Friday). Highs Tuesday will be 45°, Wednesday near 60° then Thursday things dive down into the low 40s and 27° overnight and that will make for some needed snowmaking ops. The weekend looks great with highs in the 36° range Friday, then 39° for Saturday with sunny skies and overnight cold temps.

One to Three Inches of Rain is in the Forecast for the North Carolina Mountains…

There’s good news and bad news in the forecast this morning. Here’s the GOOD NEWS FIRST! Like every weekend thus far this season, the weather will be perfect at the ski resorts with Sunny Skies and seasonable temperatures. Highs will be in the 39-43° range with lows in the 20-29° range and that means great conditions, more snowmaking, etc.

But next comes the bad news as 1-3" of rain will need to work it’s way into and through the mountains beginning today and lasting through Thursday. Today’s high will be 50° around Banner Elk with a degree or two higher over and around Cataloochee and Wolf Ridge resort areas. Highs in Wednesday with a 90% chance of rain will be around 54° (again a degree or two milder west). Light rain is the call for Tuesday and then most of the heavier rain (perhaps an inch) will fall Wednesday. Temps nose down Thursday evening and there’s a chance for some mixed precip as colder air returns in time for the weekend.
