Merryweather the Woolly Worm at Beech

Even Merryweather the Woolly Worm is learning how to ski and snowboard! It's always been a dream of his to learn before pupating into his cocoon.

Come join us here at Beech Mountain Resort, there's still one week left of our National Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month. If you've never skied or snowboarded before, you should sign up!

Packages run Monday - Friday and include a Day Lift Ticket, ski/snowboard rental, 1 hour beginner lesson and helmet all for $45!!

If interested, call group sales and reserve a spot! 1 (800) 438-2093 ext. 205

Fun Fact: In most temperate climates, caterpillars become moths within months of hatching, but in the Arctic the summer period for vegetative growth - and hence feeding - is so short that the Woolly Worm must feed for several summers, freezing again each winter before finally pupating. Some are known to live through as many as 14 winters!!

It looks as though they come to Beech Mountain and enjoy the slopes with all the extra time...
