America’s First Resort set to kick off its 57th annual ski season with new Red Tail Racer dual zip line, new packages and more

December 15, 2016 (Hot Springs, Va.)The Omni Homestead Resort is opening its slopes for the 57th annual ski season starting Friday, Dec. 23. “America’s First Resort” and the original southern ski destination has plenty to offer winter sports enthusiasts over the chilly months ahead, with more than 40 acres of well-maintained trails, a Penguin Slides Tubing Park, a Rossignol Experience Center, the new Red Tail Racer dual zip line, and two seasonal travel packages, making it the place for family fun this winter.

A Versatile Ski Retreat

Beginner to advanced skiers will benefit from the unique combination of the resort’s Sepp Kober Ski School and the Rossignol Experience Center. The resort maintains an experienced team of ski and snowboard instructors at Sepp Kober Ski School, offering private and group lessons for adults and children. Little ones ages 5-11 can also learn the basics while having fun at the Little Penguins Program. The Rossignol Experience Center offers the latest innovations from the eminent French ski equipment maker. Skiers can take advantage of rental skis featuring Auto Turn Rocker technology, which aids in turning, heightening ability and elevating performance. One day ski passes start at $21.99.

High-flying Adventure   

The new Red Tail Racer zip line is a dual-line extending 1,300 feet from mid-station to the Mountain Lodge, providing the opportunity for solo zips or side-by-side racing through the incredible Allegheny Mountain scenery at speeds up to 35 mph. The Red Tail Racer is part of The Omni Homestead Zip Tour that will offer nine zip lines spanning more than 4,000 feet at heights up to 79 feet off the ground. Winter Fun off the Slopes

In addition to traditional skiing, The Omni Homestead offers a wide variety of outdoor activities. Slide into winter at The Omni Homestead Penguin Slides Tubing Park, a family-friendly activity featuring well-groomed lanes and the Penguin Express conveyor to whisk tubers back up the hill with ease. Children must be 48” tall to tube. For a more relaxing day, try ice skating at the Allegheny Springs rink adjacent to the year-round spring-fed heated outdoor pool. At the end of the day, enjoy fireside s’mores at the fire pit on the Casino Lawn.
