GATLINBURG, TN. December 11, 2016—

Tennessee’s iconic Aerial Tramway will reopen with regular operating hours on Monday, December 12th. Ober Gatlinburg’s Aerial Tramway has been cleared by several engineers after a comprehensive inspection plan was launched immediately after management learned of the wildfire impact on Ski Mountain Road. Engineers from Switzerland inspected the cable towers and electrical controls for the tram have been certified and in good condition to operate. State of Tennessee has also inspected and released the Aerial Tramway to Operate with no restrictions.

Ski and Snowboard slopes will open for the season on Friday, December 16th. Ober Gatlinburg Snowmakers turned on their equipment Thursday night at 9pm and (while temperatures were below freezing) kept snow falling through today at 8:00am. Ober Gatlinburg currently has a base of 24”-30” on Upper Bear, Mogul Ridge, Cub Way, Castle Run, and Ski School ski trails.

Slope hours are Monday-Thursday Noon-10:00pm, Friday-Saturday 9:00am-10:00pm and Sunday 9:00am-7:00pm. Snow Tubing resumes Monday, December 12th at 11:00am.

Ober Gatlinburg would like to thank all of the firefighters, first responders, disaster relief workers, city employees, utility departments and volunteers who continue to work tirelessly to save our town. The outpouring of relief and support our community has received is unprecedented and appreciated.
