My Christmas Wish Came Early

First Trax

I had already started to write this morning's article, assuming that nothing was new, and before even looking out my window. About 20 minutes in, I decided to draw back the curtains — And what to my wondering eyes should appear… SNOW! I immediately felt like a seven year old on Christmas morning. Unfortunately, the magical little crystals turned into raindrops before long, at least here in Boone, North Carolina, but it lasted long enough to ensure I'll have a smile on my face for the rest of the day.

So, here's a glimpse of what I had started writing this morning:

"I can hardly wait for the days when there isn't a question in my mind of what to write about… when the temps are dropping, snow is falling, bases building, skiers skiing, and boarders boarding."

As far as I know, all five are happening at this very moment! Sure, the temps could be lower, the snow could be heavier, the bases could be building faster, and the numbers of skiers and boarders could be higher (especially if the number of open resorts was more than two), BUT, you have to start somewhere.

Mike already recapped the details this morning on which resorts received what in terms of natural snowfall overnight, but will any of you really get sick of seeing it twice? 😉

It's like listening to your favorite song two times in a row.

Let me "play it" for you one time:

Canaan Valley – .5 "

*Cataloochee – TRACE

*Snowshoe – TRACE

Winterplace – TRACE

Wisp – TRACE

Beech – Recently Started Snowing

Sugar – Recently Started Snowing

App – I spy with my little eye flurries on the web cam

^^ Hey, I can report anything I like 😉 Those last three will turn into singular digits eventually.

I'm hoping that these statistics are even better by the time I finish posting this. You can bet we'll be stalking the webcams, the weather updates, and resort pages all day today. If you want to stay in the loop, follow us on Twitter – you won't miss one flurry or flake.

With 13 days and 12+ hours until Christmas, there is plenty of time for the resorts to make everyone's winter wishes come true. No pressure, guys 😉 Of course, we understand, you can't do it alone — we'll have to write letters to Santa and ask him and the reindeer to bring some of that North Pole weather down this way.
