SNOWSHOE, CANAAN VALLEY, TIMBERLINE, WISP AREAS:

Look for periods of rain early on Friday and then maybe some thunder showers throughout the day. Things will be VERY windy atop Snowshoe’s 4848’ as they are looking at 42-45mph winds with gusts to 70 mph! There’s a 90% chance of rain on Friday. Highs will be around 51° dropping to 20° overnight. Look for the snowguns to ramp up full bore at all of these ski areas…wind or no wind. Saturday offers a slight 20% chance of snow but more importantly AROUND THE CLOCK snowmaking temps with highs in 30-32° range and lows around 25°. Sunday should be a great day to ski with partly cloudy skies and highs near 35° and lows Sunday night around 19° with a chance of snow showers. Monday will be snowy and cold with highs near 23°! Look for lows around 19°. Tuesday should be sunny and a high near 32° and a low of about 20°.

NORTH CAROLINA MOUNTAINS:

Friday looks for early rain and possible thunder showers and a high near 55°. The rain will clear out and then look for drastically colder temps and windy conditions. 20-30mph winds are expected and an overnight low Friday night near 30°. Saturday should be sunny and a high near 47° and an overnight, snowmaking low of 28°. Sunday things may become more partly cloudy and a high near 44° and low near 24°. (Primo snowmaking temps.) Monday will offer possible AROUND THE CLOCK snowmaking with partly cloudy skies and a high near 30° and lows near 20°. Tuesday should only be a notch “milder” with highs in the upper 30s to 40° and lows in the mid 20s. Things get colder again by mid next week with partly cloudy skies on Wednesday and highs in the mid 30s and lows in the low 20s.

So look for ALL ski areas to be making snow at every opportunity and good ski conditions within a couple of days after they crank the guns up! Although extended forecasts aren’t reliable, things look to stay within the normal range for highs and lows for the few days thereafter.
