The skiing at Sugar Mountain today is great. The slopes are well covered with loose surface of man made powder. The guns are being turned off slowly up the mountain after days of snowmaking. This weekend ought to be great!

Sugar wasn't very sweet sadly enough. Word to the wise to my fellow skiers ... buy your lift tickets using credit or debit card... not cash like I did. Unfortunately, I lost my lift pass on a run with my 16 yr old son shortly after lunch, and didn't realize it was gone until the "lift guy", tells me "its gone!" as we are about to go up. Surely this guy remembers me from the previous dozen runs over the last 3 hrs?? He told me "go to admin"... and what a shocker. Even though I had my receipt with both my sons' and my pass number listed at the bottom... I was treated very rudely in "admin office" and was basically told "it's your problem", and was then escorted out by a hard-talking and very serious security guard that falsely accused me of "being loud" (absolutely not true) and told me that I was "seconds away" from being kicked off the property. During my short 3 minute visit in their office I never raised my voice, nor was I anything other than nice, polite, civil, and respectful. The security guy and I spoke for about 4 minutes out in the hallway and he told me that "scammers and con men" had been a big problem recently. So that's just great... in addition to being treated rudely, sandbagged and railroaded out of their office... now im being indirectly (or directly?) accused of being a con artist. However, I do realize that he was just doing his job as directed, and I treated him with utmost respect from the beginning and actually ended up thanking him for his time. I wished him "Merry Christmas"... we shook hands and I then spent another $54 on top of the $70 that I had already plopped down. Their response to my lost lift pass was somewhat disappointing but I did learn 'no cash for lift passes'. I Basically grew up skiing at both Beech and Sugar, and never remembered ever seeing such harsh customer service at either. Nothing but great memories from over the years. Also, my opinion only, but I feel that an internal review of their customer service would be a most beneficial exercise for the owners of Sugar Mountain Ski Resort.

The amenities were well above average, and the lift workers were great , but with this exception. The slopes had been well maintained, and conditions were above average considering it's early in the season. The parking service (attendants and bus driver) was highly efficient for early season. I would recommend Sugar to anyone. However, please remember... no cash when buying a lift pass because IF you lose it you're "outta luck".

I understand that Policy is policy. Simple as that. I respect their policies and rules. However, it's not what you do... it's how you do it. And it's not what you say... it's how you say it. , the lift guy had already joked around with me a few times at the lift entry over the previous 4 hours. I had already been face-to-face with him a dozen times. Friendly enough of a guy... or so I thought. He could have easily issued me a "Replace" ticket right then and there, as I had already seen him do that for others. However, that didn't happen for me. Question is... why not? Oh well...

I do not understand if you had your receipt why cash or credit mattered --

anyway, as teledave says..... also, Sugars security personnel has always been pretty laughable, an elite force, a thin blue line between sugar and the ravaging hordes of swindlers and ticket clippers -- thieves who steal their patrons gear, somewhat lower priority

Substandard Chinese tickets is cheaper, and sometimes customers have to buy 2 in one day. Bonus!
