I’d like to take a moment and thank all of you who have emailed us of late about our new, in-depth weather data posted both here and on www.SkiSoutheast.com.  We are working to add more weather content shortly and pretty soon we will have an amazing partnership with all of the ski areas.  All of them don’t even know that just yet…but they will!

Where else can you get the skier’s forecast providing you with what to expect weather-wise, whether you’re heading to Cataloochee, Snowshoe, Wisp or anywhere in between?  We post the weather for the NC Mountains under the HighCountryWeather banner on the front page of SkiNorthCarolina.com each and every morning and if you skip over to www.SkiSoutheast.com you can see what to expect for the rest of the ski areas of the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic!

We have some very exciting plans to bring you the weather right from every single ski area in the Southeast before long and we’ve already put that plan in motion.  As soon as work out the kinks we’ll be implementing those plans across the region.  Stay tuned.

All of the ski areas have made snow like crazy and they will as long as temps allow.

The guns are already off at Appalachian Ski Mountain this morning, but they put down a nice coat of new snow last night and the groomers have made it all nice and pretty for you guys to tear up today!

Cataloochee jumped their base up several inches in the last two days with tons of snowmaking.  It looks like they’ve turned the guns off now and The Cat is looking pretty nice this morning.

Hawksnest is looking very nice this morning after making snow yesterday and in the last 24 hours.  They have turned the guns off already this morning.  Today should be sweet.  Don’t forget to be at Hawksnest on Sunday at 10am for their NEST GAMES.  Click here for more information or visit www.SkiHawk.com

We have an all point bulletin out for a ski area called Sapphire Valley.  Anyone heard of them before?  We have no clue what’s happening down their but so far this winter I think we are correct to say that Sapphire has only updated the ski report to ANY reporting service may four times.  We’ve seen NO report for eight days after being assured that they were going to begin getting us more photos, reports etc.  If you’re looking at ANY reporting service for their forecast do  not trust it – call them direct to see what’s open, etc.

Back to the real ski areas – Ski Beech is still making snow this morning and vow to continue as long as temps allow.  They’ve added a couple of inches to their base in the last two days.  They should be offering some VERY NICE conditions to play on today.  With all of this sunshine…don’t forget your sunscreen.  Beech is skiing on 13 of 15 trails today.

Sugar Mountain is also still making snow as of this report and they also have four lanes of their tubing area open today.  Sugar has 16 trails open and is in beautiful shape this morning.  One look at the webcam will have you ready to jump in your car!

Wolf Laurel looks AMAZING on the base webcam this morning!  Tons of snowmaking ongoing and it looks like Old Man Winter draped his cloak on the mountain today!  We can tell you that The Wolf should be in great shape today, although they have not posted a snow report for two days.

Get out an enjoy some great conditions today and Saturday.  We do have some rain moving in on Sunday and then maybe some snow on Monday night and Tuesday.  Mild again mid-week.  February is almost here…hopefully Winter will come back and STICK AROUND for a couple of months!

Until Next Time!
