We have already received some reports that portions of the High Country area have received as much as 3" of natural snow this morning. Most areas around the region have gotten about an 1" so far, but we are expecting anywhere from a dusting to an inch at lower elevations and as much as 5" to 8" at higher elevations, particularly around Beech Mountain and the Tennessee line.

Several resorts made snow overnight, however not all have seen temps fall low enough to do so. The temp thus far at Cataloochee has not gotten to the point to fire up their snowmaking equipment but they expect it to pretty quick.

None of the North Carolina resorts are open today, however Sugar Mountain is currently looking to open this evening for night skiing, so check back for updates…or visit their website at www.skisugar.com for later decisions there. By the way, Sugar is reporting 4" of fluffy white stuff thus far at 7:30am.

All of the rest of the resorts are making snow and looking to open soon. Some maybe as soon as Sunday.

Winter has FINALLY made it.
