It’s Snowing and that Means More Ski Resort Openings!?!?

First, the good news: It’s snowing across many of the high elevations. 2-4" may fall from now through Monday Mid-Day! Yahoo!

Cataloochee has updated us and they will be open on TUESDAY – closed Monday.  They plan on making snow at every opportunity.  Cataloochee DID make some snow earlier in the day and they plan on cranking up their guns shortly.

Sugar is making snow at the top of their hill.  We received reports that Sugar plans to open on Monday and with some cooperation of the natural snow AND cold temps that will allow for optimal snowmaking then MAYBE Sugar will be open.  That would be great news for all of us. However, 72 hours after they cranked up their guns Thursday evening…they are still quite a ways away from providing suitable coverage to open Monday AM.

Here is a capture of their LIVE CAM as of 5pm Sunday evening:

We do have snow in the forecast and if the temps are right…Sugar may open but based on what’s on the slopes right now…I wouldn’t want my SX-11s on there.  However it should also be noted that if optimal conditions exist this evening then Sugar COULD lay down a ton of snow that is focused ONLY on the base and open with some pretty good conditions.

Here’s HOPING that Sugar makes a lot of snow tonight!

The weather look right…and it’s SNOWING right now, so stay tuned and some good sking and riding is UPON US!
