The Homestead in Hot Springs, Virginia debuts Allegheny Springs Winter Wonderland this November. The newly renovated 3,000-acre resort in the Allegheny Mountains of southwest Virginia will offer sports on the resort’s historic downhill ski area by mid-December (weather permitting) and ice-skating and swimming at Allegheny Springs Winter Wonderland.

The Homestead offers 100 percent snowmaking when natural snow isn’t available, rental equipment, “Little Penguins” day programs for children and private and group ski and snowboarding instruction at the Sepp Kober Ski School.

Area Description

Homestead

The Homestead is arguably the nicest ski resort in the region if you are into amenities and pampering! (At least that is what SkiSoutheast.com surveys have stated.) They offer ten very nice ski runs for skiing and snowboarding enjoyment, as well as snow tubing, skating, snowmobile tours, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Snowboarders will love the half-pipe.

The Homestead Resort is renowned in the area as the perfect family and learn-to-ski area. The resort recently announced the first stage ground breaking of a multi-million dollar snowmaking investment as well, so even though they are already at the top of the list for amenities, they are growing!

Although winter activities are only a SMALL part of what The Homestead offers, they do get an average of 50 inches of natural snowfall per season and definitely "do winter right!"

Cross Country Skiing

If Cross Country Skiing is your thing you can kick and glide across the Old Course or get the heart rate up on The Homestead trail. The Homestead offer cross-country skiing lessons and guided tours. Available mid December - March, weather and natural snowfall permitting.

Guided Snowmobile Tours

Snowmobiling is a great activity for the whole family and The Homestead offers half-hour to half-day tours on the trails around The Homestead. They also offer evening tours on the slopes of the ski resort when natural snowfall does not allow them to use the 40+ miles of trails. Available mid December - March, weather permitting.

Après Ski?

Two words can be used to describe the unmatchable amenities at The Homestead - "Oh My!" They offer 10 restaurants, a spa and saloon, ski shop, ski school, special ski and skate packages and much more.

For incomparable luxury accommodations and amenities, you may want to stay at the Homestead, a 15,000 acre national landmark in Virginia's Allegheny Mountains. Features include a top rated ski school directed by Austrian instructors which is located near the historic town of Harrisonburg, Virginia.

The Homestead is a year round destination featuring 3 Championship Golf Courses, including the acclaimed world famous Cascades Course, a European Style Spa, shooting sports, hiking and biking trails, tennis and a superb dining room. The suites have traditional furnishings and decor with Georgian Architecture.
