We are moving into new offices today and therefore short on time, so bear with us as we simply give you guys a quick tour of notes that were provided to us this morning.

Matthew East has provided his weather forecast for the entire Southeast and Mid Atlantic for the weekend and Christmas week. The cold coming in will be a welcome sight for ski area snowmakers. The temps expected Monday AM should be in the 20s for highs and near single digitd for lows and it should be cold enough to continue to make snow around the clock across the entire region into Tuesday. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are looking a bit snowy as well! We don’t want to steal all of Matthew’s thunder, so check out his Skier’s Forecast for the Southeast and Mid Atlantic ski areas.

Here’s a tour in the order that I ran updated them this AM:

Bryce Resort – They are holding with 6 of 8 trails open for day skiing today>

Massanutten Resort – They have 5 of 14 trails open for day and night sessions with tubing open as well.

Wintergreen Resort has 7 of 26 trails open for day and night skiing AND tubing until 11pm as well.

Canaan Valley – 8 of 39 trails open for day skiing today.

Snowshoe Mountain – They are REALLY showing off with 52 of 60 trails open and tubing as well. They brag (I mean write), "Happy Birthday Snowshoe Mountain! Today marks the official 35th birthday of Snowshoe, and our wish of colder weather and snow seems to be coming true. Conditions will remain a little damp today, but snow and single digit temperatures are right around the corner. Sunday looks like we could receive some significant natural snowfall, and more importantly, our expert snowmaking team will be able to fire up the guns for an extended period of time next week. Today marks the debut of the Silver Creek area and the opening of 17 out of 18 trails as well as all of the lifts. Our terrain park crew has also been hard at work adding 2 flat rails to the Timberjack Terrain Garden at Silver Creek. This also marks the return of regular tubing hours from 1pm-9pm and night skiing until 9pm. Snowmobiling and Snowcat tours are also open. Call 5982 for availability. With Silver Creek open we are now nearly 90% open on all terrain across the resort! What a birthday gift! In continuing with the celebration, cake will be served in the Shavers Centre from 4-6pm with a Pajama Jam in the Connection tonight. Tomorrow is also full of events. Our friends at Red Bull will help debut our newest terrain park feature in our Red Bull Hat Tricks competition. First prize walks away with $1000. Tomorrow evening we are also premiering Red Bull’s newest flick, That’s It, That’s All starring Travis Rice. Come hoot, holler, and scream in the Shavers Centre. The show starts at 8:10 with a Connection Afterparty following the flick. The holidays are most definitely here, and what better way to spend them than at Snowshoe. You’ll be treated to some of the best conditions in recent memory, the most terrain the Mid-Atlantic has to offer, and the possibility of a White Christmas. Limited availability still exists, so call today!"

(Info IN is Info OUT!)

Timberline Resort has 16 of 37 trails open for day skiing.

Winterplace Resort offers 12 of 28 and tubing is closed.

Appalachian Ski Mountain – 50° – They have 8 of 10 trails open. They closed Hard Core and Thin Slice for today. Ice Skating and both terrain parks are open.

Cataloochee Ski Area – 50° – They dropped a slope opening day and have 5 trails open for day and night skiing.

Hawksnest Snow Tubing Park – They are open and we watched some pretty cool live webcam shots of people enjoying the hill last night.

Ski Beech – 47° – They have closed Upper Shawneehaw for today and they write, "We have been experiencing above normal temperatures as well as periods of light rain lately, and we have decided to delay the opening of night skiing until the first of the week around December 22nd. Much colder temperatures are expected to arrive Sunday, and the forecast tells us that we should be able to produce some good ski conditions as we head into Christmas. Be sure to check our trail map page for current conditions… Although we have not made snow over the past few nights, our grooming crew has been working to provide a nice ski surface for you to enjoy."

Beech is offering 4 trails (Lower Shawneehaw and down) for today.

Sugar Mountain – 46° – They are holding strong with 11 trails for day and night skiing and ice skating as well.

Wolf Ridge Resort – 50° – They are offering 4 trails and tubing for day and night sessions which speaks well for their snow maintaining.
