Friday Morning T-Time

Good morning and Happy Friday! I have to be honest, I was a little more excited to do the morning’s snow report and article today… that is, until I actually STARTED doing the snow report. I thought we’d have a few more resorts joining the party on this beautiful December Friday—Beech, Timberline, Winterplace. However, Timberline and Winterplace both pushed back their opening dates to next Friday, December 21. Beech is reopening just a day later – TOMORROW! I suppose I should have –could have- been a little more prepared for these delays and in the know, had I paid a little closer attention.  Unfortunately, you may have noticed, I’ve been out of the mix more than usual this week. At the same time, when I first heard the news of openings set for today, I just took it and ran, instead of checking all along to make sure everything was aligning.  Live and learn.

It’s uplifting to see the bases building again at Cat, Sugar, and Snowshoe. All three are making snow at every opportunity. In fact, Cat has been holding off on night skiing until this coming Monday, so that snowmaking ops can be in full swing. Did you catch that? THIS Monday, Cat will have night skiing!

Sugarfest begins this evening at Sugar and goes through Sunday. “Skiers, snowboarders, ice skaters, foodies, music lovers, families, weekend warriors, any type of winter shopper and Olympic athlete follower, we’ve got something for all of you.” Sheesh, if you aren’t covered in that description, what are you?! Details on the weekend’s events can be found here.

Snowshoe has 78 acres of open terrain and is looking forward to next week’s weather forecast (cold temps and snow).  They’re hosting their Demo Days this weekend – where guests can get a look at and feel for the latest gear. Pretty cool, huh?

As for Beech, they’re reopening tomorrow, but I’m not sure for how long. Their site says they’ll “operate through the weekend, from 9am to 10pm.” I have to assume it’s up in the air as to whether they’ll try to stay open next week. Only time will tell. So, for those of you who have been waiting to return to the highest resort in Eastern America, I’d be sure to go either tomorrow or Sunday.

For all of you action-craving, deal-loving skiers and boarders who HAVEN’T participated in our 25 Days of Christmas Giveaways yet, what are you waiting for? Putting on your lift ticket is HARDER than our daily contests! I’m telling you – it’s easier, especially for some of you, to enter in the day’s drawing than to make it on Santa’s ‘NICE’ list ;-)!

On that note, I’ll let you go so that you can click over to see what’s up for grabs today! Enjoy your weekends, days on the snow, Saturday and Sunday mornings with Mike, and I’ll catch you all on Monday!
