Beech Mtn Learn 2 Ski Challenge Poster Contest

Get your art supplies ready to promote Skiing and Snowboarding! January is learn to ski month! In support of this initiative, Beech Mountain Resort will hold a poster design contest to promote learning to ski and snowboard. This contest is open to all 3rd - 5th grade students nationwide. First, second and third prize will be awarded in male and female categories. First prize includes a ski or snowboard set-up courtesy of FLOW Snowboards and Atomic Skis, one full day in the Beech Mountain Resort Youth Learning Center, two additional lift tickets, and a helmet and goggle set from SCOTT Sports. Second Prize includes a free lift ticket, rental and first-time beginner lesson at Beech Mountain Resort. Third prize winners receive a free beginner lesson at Beech Mountain Resort. All entries must be original, flat, two-dimensional drawings, paintings or renderings no smaller than 8.5 inches by 11 inches and no larger than 11 inches by 17 inches. No photographs will be permitted. Theme: "Be Active, Learn to Ski or Snowboard" Deadline for submissions is January 31, 2012. Posters will be displayed in the View Haus Cafeteria at Beech Mountain Resort and will be judged by our staff of certified ski and snowboard instructors, along with Tim Humphries (pro snowboarder sponsored by FLOW). Winners will be announced on February 1, 2012.

Shred for the Cup Rail Jam at Appalachian Ski Mountain

Shred for the Cup Rail Jam When: Saturday, Jan. 5 Where: Appalachian Ski Mtn. What: Rail Jam Competition App Terrain Park will kick off the 7th Annual Shred for the Cup Series on Saturday January 5 with the Nordica/Never Summer Rail Jam! The Shred for the Cup series has become the benchmark Park competition series in the region, with 3 events held throughout the winter that test Skiers & Snowboarders skills in several park disciplines (Rail Jam, Big Air, & Slopestyle). As always, the Series has categories for all skill levels (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanded) of both Skiers & Snowboarders, as well as a dedicated womenís category in both Ski & Board. With the recent cold temperatures, natural snow, and ample snowmaking in all terrain parks, riders can count on a versatile, fun rail/box setup in either the Appal Jam or Appaljack Terrain Park for the event. Remember that points are given out for placement at each SFTC event, and are tallied throughout the season to determine the overall series winners that receive the coveted cups! Riders can save money by registering for the entire series, as well as pre-registering before the day of the event. Stop by the ASM Main Office to Pre-Register & Save. A Downloadable Registration form is available HERE. All competitors receive lunch and Shred for the Cup Series T-Shirts in addition to entry into the event. Registration will be held in the Alpine Ski Shop (Lower level of Lodge) from 9-11:am. A warm up session will be available for competitors from 10:30 Ė 11:30 with a rider meeting at 11:45. The event is scheduled to begin at 12 Noon. Free Event Spectator tickets are available at registration and at the main office for and are required for slope access to watch the event without ski/snowboard equipment. Tons of prizes are up for grabs in over 20 categories thanks to our event sponsors. Nordica & Never Summer are the SFTC Rail Jam Title sponsors, so expect lots of goods from these brands as well as our contributing sponsors: Alpine Ski Shop, Armada, Atomic, Dakine, Electric, Full Tilt, Gnu, LibTech, Neff, Recess, Salomon, Scott, Skullcandy, Smith, Spyder, STZ , and Volcom.
