On Snow

Merry Christmas weekend all! We have been riding Snowshoes 30 open slopes all week. There is good coverage on almost all the slopes here. The Blacks have not been groomed all week, and are showing some thin spots. The temps have been mild, but not too mild. A little rain Thursday afternoon, and it is raining today (Friday) ahead of the cold air return tonight. Snowshoe made snow on Tuesday and Wednesday morning, so conditions were great before the rain rolled in. This was our first trip here, but won’t be our last. We love the village theme. Get out this weekend and ski if you can.

Im checking in from atop Snowshoe where the rain has finally stopped. (Friday) It was a wet and rainy day. There was no shortage of diehards on the slopes though, and I was right there with them. Trail quality was mixed with plenty of loose wet granular runs on the greens and some blues, but the steeps stuff looked bad. Thin and bare all over the place on 3 runs I know. We thanked the lift attendants at Ball hooter, Grabhammer, and the skidder lifts by delivering hot cookies my wife made in the condo, and dropped to me on the slopes. Those guys really can make your experience a positive one. Waterproofing is your friend and mine lasted till 2pm. Then it was time for the hot tub soak and hot cookies. Christmas week at Snowshoe has been great. Looking forward to one more day tomorrow of skiing and then its back to NC. Temps are dropping fast as I write, soon the guns will erupt and the rain will be a memory.

Happy Turns!!!
