Doug Burnett and Dave McConnell rode the first chair of the 2006-2007 season on the East Coast Baby! Doug is "2slikstix" on the messageboard and Dave McConnell is the crazy guy wearing the rasta wig on some of the photos of the day from Saturday at Cataloochee. Doug filed this report:
"Mike – What an awesome beginning to the ski season on NOV. 4th. WOW, I got there early and reserved the first chair with the lift Guys. I got the first run in the Southeast for the new season! Yeah Baby!!! (Actually if you’ll see our story for yesterday, we say Doug and Dave made the first run in the East.)
The lift operators were as stoked as I was to be there. A larger crowd of maybe 200 showed and were not dissapointed. Good times were had with all the members who showed up. Early sticky snow packed nicely to loose top powder. Who cares if it was only 1 slope, they hed it covered with 1 to 4 ft of snow! No bare spots and some sweet jumps. Sunny skies turned off the guns at opening and we were allowed to enjoy the snow. Hats off to Cat for opening so I could get my fix.
