We’ve been showing you the Southeast’s Higher Elevations and Ski Areas forecast for the last month and we usually take it from North to South.  Today we’ll mix it up and go South to North.

NC MOUNTAINS – There is a slight chance of light rain early, but it will be mostly cloudy today with 20-30 mph winds and a high of 61°. Tonight colder air moves in and will drop out temps down to about 30° and that may crank up the snowguns.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday look like nearly identical weather days with mostly sunny or partly cloudy days (depending on if you’re a glass half full kind of person!) and highs in the low 40s and lows around 23° each night.  That will be perfect snowmaking ops for the resorts of Western North Carolina .

Monday’s looking mostly cloudy and slightly colder still with highs around 40° and a low near 23°.

OBER GATLINBURG – They too have a 20% chance of rain today and windy conditions later in the day.  Today’s high will be near 65° and tonight’s low about 37°. Friday, Saturday and Sunday looks like Mostly Sunny days with highs 50-55° each day and overnight lows near 27° each night.

WINTERGREEN RESORT – They too have a slight chance of showers today but it should be mostly sunny for the most part.  Highs today will be around 60° with tonight’s low around 30°.  Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be sunny and the highs will be about 48° or so each day.  Overnight lows should be 20° Friday Night, 25° Saturday night and near 30° on Sunday Night.

MASSANUTTEN RESORT – Again a slight chance of showers today with a high of about 63°. Tonight’s low should allow for snowmaking.  Friday, Saturday and Sunday look gorgeous with highs around 40° Friday and Saturday and around 48° on Sunday.  Nighttime temps will be near 20° Friday night, Saturday night and near 29° on Sunday night.

WINTERPLACE RESORT IN WEST VIRGINIA looks like a mild today with highs near 60°.  Lows tonight should be around 27°.  Friday and Saturday will bring some SNOW SHOWERS and FLURRIES with highs in the mid 30s and lows in the upper teens.  Sunday appears to be milder with sunny skies and highs around 45° or so.

SNOWSHOE MOUNTAIN – Rain showers are on tap for today with a high in the upper 40s and lows tonight around 25° and some possible snow flurries.  Friday and Saturday bring SNOW SHOWERS and highs in the upper 20s to near 30°.  Overnight lows Friday Night should be near 12°!  Saturday night’s low will be near 15°.  Sunday should be a PRIMO ski day with sunny skies and highs in the low 30s with snowmaking nighttime temps near 20°.

WISP RESORT IN MARYLAND – They have been the coldest place of the Southeast’s and Mid-Atlantic’s ski areas with the weather pattern that we’ve been in. That changes a little over the next few days as temps moderate to more normal numbers.  Today will bring some rain showers changing to snow showers late.  Highs today will be near 46°.  Tonight’s low will be near 23°.  Friday will bring more snow showers although they won’t amount to more than a coating of snow…good for the ambience at the resorts though!  Highs on Friday should be around 32°.  Friday night will dip to near 15°.  Saturday and Sunday should be mostly sunny and cold with highs 33-38° and lows around 21° each night.

So your forecast looks like some colder temps for the weekend and good overnight snowmaking across the board.

Until Next Time!
