The summary is that there’s great news in the way of cold air that should be filtering into the region beginning sometime around Thursday.  The West Virginia Resorts could see as much as 6-8" of snow Wednesday through Friday and that is great news to Snowshoe Mountain as they plan on opening this coming weekend.

The North Carolina ski areas should pick up anywhere from 2-4" of snow with 2" around the Cataloochee area and perhaps higher amounts near Sugar and Beech.

Even more important is the fact that SNOWMAKING temps will accompany the natural snow.

Here’s the breakdown day by day:

Tuesday: Hi 40° Lo 31° Cloudy

Wednesday: Hi 38° Lo 30° – PM clouds and chances of snow

Thursday: Hi 35° Lo 24° – 70% chance of snow and great snowmaking temps

Friday: Hi 33° Lo 19° – 30% chance of snow and great snowmaking ops.

Saturday: Hi 36° Lo 26° – Mix of clouds and sun, but good snowmaking temps

Sunday: Hi 41° Lo 26° – Mix of clouds and sun, but good snowmaking temps
