Snowshoe Mountain has epic powder conditions across the mountain today as snow continues to fall steadily and forecasts are calling for as much as 40” total

SNOWSHOE, WV–With just days to go until the busy Holiday period at area ski resorts, Snowshoe Mountain in West Virginia is issuing a winter FUN warning.

As of 11:30am, the West Virginia resort had 21” of fresh snow, and with snow continuing to fall heavily on the mountain, forecasts are calling for as much as 20 additional inches before the storm is over.

This is one of the biggest storms to hit Snowshoe in the last decade, and snow enthusiasts are taking advantage of powder conditions that rival those at resorts out West.

This natural snow will ensure that Snowshoe and other area resorts have GREAT conditions for guests spending the Holidays on the slopes. Snowshoe is currently offering the most open terrain in the region, with over 100+ acres of skiable terrain. And with this natural snow, plus the resort’s region’s-best snowmaking system, more terrain should be ready to be open in the coming days. Currently, Snowshoe’s forecast is calling for snow and cold weather, perfect for snowmaking, throughout next weekend. On Friday, Snowshoe began snowmaking on the resort’s famed Cupp Run, a slope designed by legendary skier Jean Claude Killy. Cupp Run is often thought of as the best slope in the region, with expert skiers and riders being treated to 1.5 miles and 1,500 vertical feet of excitement.

Snowshoe’s Silver Creek area is also now open for the season, offering more terrain and the resort’s tubing hill, as well as night skiing and riding. For those wanting to take advantage of this incredible natural snowfall, Snowshoe does have cross country and snowshoeing trails open. The resort’s adventure department also gives guests the chance to experience the winter wonderland from a horse-drawn sleigh ride, on guided snowmobile tours, and snowcat tours, giving guests a unique after-dark look at Snowshoe’s trail system.

Snowshoe will be offering incredible conditions, with the region’s most open terrain, throughout the Holiday period. Some Holiday availability still remains, and skiers and snowboards will love spending the Christmas and New Years Holidays in Snowshoe’s festive mountaintop Village. Snowshoe’s updated snow report, with updated snow total, open terrain and conditions on the mountain are available daily at www.snowshoemtn.com or by calling 304-572-4636.
