Back To Normal

We made it through the President’s Day weekend and the storm of the season (so far) in great form.  I’m sure the resorts are going to be happy with the weekend visitation numbers and the till.

The Monday crowds were significantly lighter than Saturday and Sunday, but quite possibly the best conditions of the weekend.

The blue sky trend will continue today, except for a couple spots up in West Virginia.  The temperatures are a little cooler this morning and it appears that wind has crept into the area, as quite a few of the cams are shaking a bit this morning.

We still saw some spots of snow since we last spoke.  Here are the snowfall numbers this morning:

Appalachian Ski Mountain: 1”
Sugar Mountain: 1”
Massanutten Resort: 0.5”
Wintergreen Resort: 1”
Snowshoe Resort: 2”
Timberline Resort: 1”
Wisp Resort: 4”

Wisp is still raking it in up in Maryland and is the season leader with 131” of snow so far.

Now that we are past the big weekend let’s take a look at things to come.  First off, Snowshoe has brought back their Ridiculous Pass again this year and it starts today and tomorrow for $199 and then climbs from there.

Beech Mountain 80's Retro Weekend

Beech Mountain is having their Retro 80’s Weekend Feb. 21-23.  This is always a good time.  I know I’m still using some of my gear from back then – I’ll finally look normal out there.  I know of a few of our members that are going to make it up.  If you are planning to go to Beech this weekend, let me know.

The resorts are starting to set their sights on the next phase of the season – Spring Skiing.  Beech has already announced their Spring Fever Blowout with weekday pricing all 7 days starting on Monday March 3rd.  Rentals will also be 25% off.  Sugar announced their March Madness pricing starting on the same Monday.  Sugar will start discounting lift tickets, rentals, and lessons 25% through the end of the season.

I’m not ready to talk about that yet.

So, there you have it.  All in all it should be a pretty quiet day on the slopes as they recover from the party.

Take Care!
