Happy Holidays!

(The photo of the day at the top of this post is from Wintergreen Resort in Virginia as they groomed some slopes to corduroy perfection.)

Today is a travel day for yours truly and I would have asked theKenDog (Kenny Griffin) to step in but it is a travel day for him as well. We are both headed north to the Wild & Wonderful state of West Virginia to take advantage of the colder and snowier climbs of Pocahontas County and Snowshoe Mountain. Therefore our posted numbers in terms of natural snowfall may be slightly off, and we will update those later in the evening.

Additionally, check the SNOW REPORT for all of the open trails, temps, etc.

We will be posting a number of photos, videos and updates from Snowshoe and Kenny & I plan on doing some LIVE posts as well. We plan on visiting with Rachel Fanning, Heather Ransom, Shawn Cassell and our buddy Joe Stevens while we’re on the mountain. Keep checking back as we will post the when and where asap.

We’re thinking that this will be a “Kodak or GoPro kind of week” at every ski area this week. So if you’re reading this, please send photos and videos to [email protected] and I’ll post the great ones. Kenny and I are going to giving away a lot of weekend getaways, cabin rentals, lift passes and more and maybe we’ll reward some of the better photos and videos submitted. So send them!

As this is a travel day, I thought I’d share some of the better photos and videos that we saw from Christmas Day at the various resorts. These are in no certain order…just as we saw them. (By the way, I really don’t know why EVERY resort doesn’t post photos and videos to Facebook, Instagram and YouTube nearly every day.

KUDOS TO SNOWSHOE…

Snowshoe Foundation Toys for Children Drive

Snowshoe Mountain Resort held a Toys for Children drive for kids in Pocahontas and Randolph counties and they did so in honor of David Dekema, Snowshoe’s VP of Marketing, who recently passed away unexpectedly. Snowshoe reported, “We are pleased to announce that the Snowshoe Foundation’s Toy Drive in honor of our late friend Dave Dekema raised more than $5,000 towards toys for children in Pocahontas and Randolph counties! Sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to this special cause.”

Thank you’s were posted to social media from family members – Michael, Patricia and Edward Dekema. Excellent benefit “Snowshoe team”. As usual, you guys are a great big, close family.

ONE OF THE BETTER RESORT VIDEOS LATELY…

I had a good laugh and really appreciated this one from Winterplace Resort:

JUSTIN from Canaan Valley Resort has been posting really nice daily video updates to Facebook. We’re hoping that we can get him to post those to a YouTube Channel, but for now, we’ll pull them out and push them to you guys. Here’s his latest from Christmas Day:

Another nice sunset photo from Snowshoe.

Snowshoe is well-known from their amazing sunrises and sunsets. This one was captured Sunday. Click to Enlarge.

Ober looking good…the snowboard too.

Nice shot of conditions at Ober on Christmas Day. The snowboard was given away as a contest.

That will do it for me today. I want to say “thank you” for making this website a daily stop in your day. Pass the word or email a friend to pay us a visit. Also if you haven’t done so already, check out the messageboard. We have lots of industry insiders, ski patrol and instructors and lots of fellow skiers and snowboarders who are on there every day. Click over, join in on the conversation. It’s fun and it’s free.

Also check out all the Ski Resort Live Webcams and our Skier’s Weather
