Good morning my mountain-loving peeps. As I checked my emails, texts and LIVE cams this morning what I did see was a lot of “wet” and fairly substantial cloud cover. What I didn’t see was fog.

The featured photo at the lead to this story is from 9am this morning atop Ober Gatlinburg in the Great Smoky Mountains. The capture above is from the Gatlinburg Aerial Tramway camera. The tramway runs from 9:45am to 9pm daily and it is pretty impressive to see. If you’re patient and catch the camera at the right time you can see trams arriving and leaving the station. That link is at: Gatlinburg Aerial Tramway Camera

Here is a closeup capture from this morning:

If you tour some of the ski area webcams – many are down right now awaiting the season, however MANY are running. Check them out here: Southeastern Ski Area WebCams

Here is what it looked like this morning at 9am at the top of Snowshoe Mountain’s 4848′ elevations atop Shaver’s Center:

So as of this morning, we’ll call it 16 for 22 foggy mornings.

Here is the morning by morning report:

Totals: 16 for 22 (and only sharing the latest dailies)
Aug 22: Rainy and wet around the region. Foggy at Snowshoe, but we can’t count that towards our totals for August.
Aug 21: Foggy in Blowing Rock and Hound Ears. Patchy elsewhere.
Aug 20: Heavy fog bank at Hound Ears and Valle Crucis. Patchy elsewhere.
Aug 19: Heavy fog at Beech Mountain
Aug 18: Reports of light fog in the Valle Crucis area, clear in another part of Valle Crucis. Heavy, patchy fog atop Seven Devils.
Aug 17: Another clear day.

If you want to see more “foggy shares” just click on any of the news stories of late…as some include some nice shots of nature, black bears and more.
