The photo of the day – or the lack of a quality photo due to the density of the fog – pretty much tells the story this morning. Many areas of the High Country were clear or close to it with only the slightest haze.

However, I toured some of the resortcams and Blowing Rock was pretty foggy. See:

Downtown Blowing Rock cam showed some significant fog. Click to enlarge.

I looked at several of the ski area webcams and it was FOGGY at Snowshoe top to bottom. In fact, some of the camera showed a “white out”.

I always enjoy the views from this camera. The Ober Gatlinburg Aerial Tram camera shows a nice view this morning.

I would normally make THIS shot the real, photo of the day, but we’re going for foggy shots right now. Uggg!

So as of this morning, we’ll call it 16 for 21 foggy mornings.

Here is the morning by morning report:

Totals: 16 for 21 (and only sharing the latest dailies)

Aug 20: Heavy fog bank at Hound Ears and Valle Crucis. Patchy elsewhere.
Aug 19: Heavy fog at Beech Mountain
Aug 18: Reports of light fog in the Valle Crucis area, clear in another part of Valle Crucis. Heavy, patchy fog atop Seven Devils.
Aug 17: Another clear day.
Aug 16: A gorgeous, blue sky day in the mountains.
