App announced just a bit ago that they will be opening for the season this Saturday, December 10th.  Here’s what they have to say…

"Finally winter weather has arrived and snowmaking is in full force. Temperatures last night actually dropped below forecasted lows with a low of 19.5 at 7:48 this morning. With projected temperatures in the mid 20’s to low teens, the weather forecast should allow for snowmaking for the next 4 nights, with possible daytime snowmaking temperatures also.

Opening day is scheduled for Saturday, December 10 at 9am, with night skiing beginning on a new schedule starting at 5 pm. This expanded night session will be the longest in the region when Midnight Blast sessions begin, the week after Christmas and also on Friday & Saturday nights in January & February.

Appalachian hopes to begin the season with all chairlifts and a majority of slopes open. Opening day will also feature several fun events and specials as we begin celebrating our 50th season! These include:
-First 100 guests receive free ski ticket
-First person to ride the 50th Golden Chair wins prizes
-Rome Pre Jib Snowboard Contest
-Free Professional Family Ski Portraits (Digital Copy) taken by Joshua Easterling Photography 10am – 3pm
– Golden Scavenger Hunt Part 1 (Items 1-20) First 3 to complete win prizes

Appalachian Ski Mtn. will NOT be offering $5 day ski tickets for opening weekend, as published by High Country Press. 1962 prices had been scheduled for the first weekend in December, and while other events will be taking place throughout the season, this particular offer expired when the date passed."
