December 22, 2005 – Wintergreen, Virginia – Wintergreen Resort is now 100% open! Thanks to cold temperatures and the new automated snowmaking system, the resort has been able to pump out high volumes of snow on all terrain. The new snowmaking system continuously monitors the humidity in the air and instantly adjusts the water to air ratio accordingly. This instant and continuous adjustment is the reason Wintergreen has been able to produce a higher volume and higher quality of snow this season.

With twenty-four slopes, five lifts, a terrain park and two tubing parks – there should be plenty of fun and excitement for everyone at Wintergreen. Wintergreen Resort was recently voted the "Best Ski Area in the Mid-Atlantic Region" by readers of the Washington Post.

For this season, Wintergreen has unveiled a new advanced ski trail called "Outer Limits" an addition to the expert terrain on the Highlands. Rated as a single black diamond, the new trail is 2100 feet long and 50-100 feet wide with a sustained 38 degree pitch for 1000 feet. Other recent upgrades include a second high-speed six-passenger chairlift and state-of-the-art 100% computerized snowmaking.

But Wintergreen is not just for advanced skiers and riders. Wintergreen is the only ski resort to offer free group beginner lessons with equipment rentals. And this year, participants will be guaranteed that they will learn to ski. The ski instruction program has been re-formatted in such a way that allows individual students to learn at their own pace.

Besides the excitement on the ski slopes, Wintergreen is also celebrating the opening of the all-new Wintergarden Spa featuring ten luxurious spa treatment rooms, one couple’s massage room and two specialized treatment rooms for wraps and water treatments. The new spa facility is a destination in itself and offers a tranquil environment to become re-energized.

Wintergreen is located 45 miles southwest of Charlottesville, Virginia. In addition to 45 holes of championship golf, the 11,000-acre four-season family resort features seasonal skiing, snowboarding and tubing, gourmet and casual restaurants, more than 300 accommodations, 30 miles of marked hiking trails, and an award-winning tennis program with 24 courts. Wintergreen also offers instructional adventure programs for teens, adults and corporate groups; a variety of events and activities; five pools; a conference center with more than 40,000 square feet of meeting and function space; and a full-service spa, complete with salon services, massage programs, and an aquatics / fitness center.
