Spring Pow is the Best
03.27.13 11:33 AM
What an awesome 72 hours it has been! I feel like I've been saying this a lot over the last few weeks, but is it really March? This has been a crazy month, with a lot of natural snow. I have thoroughly enjoyed the past few days up here. My place across from Sugar Mountain is a winter wonderland right now! Click on the picture below to see the enlarged version.
Yesterday wasn't quite as good as the night before, but it was still really fun! A lot of the pow had compacted and been groomed down, but there were still stashes, you just had to search for them. I can't say I've ridden powder this late in the season here in North Carolina before. It's truly been awesome. I thought my tree and pow riding was done for the season. Nope! Kudos to Sugar for staying open this late in the season, even for night sessions. With Beech and App closed for the season, they are getting a lot of the regulars from those resorts to come and ride. Pics and comments from yesterday that I've seen indicate it was pretty busy during the day. There were a good amount of people out there last night as well, especially considering it was March 26th. This is some great marketing for them.
