Adjust Your Calendar Accordingly

Wow! I think this time, at least this year, is just about as exciting as the beginning of the season when we're hearing of resorts' opening dates. Right now, we have resorts extending their seasons and even reopening for bonus periods. When we'd normally be apprehensive about the very last resort closing, and days on the snow being officially -OVER- until next winter, we're looking at 11 resorts still contending against the calendar with TWO.MORE.WEEKS! We've been saying "two more weeks" for what feels like the past month now.
So here's the scoop. Winterplace has decided to extend their season to March 30th! In case you haven't noticed, they still have ALL trails and terrain parks open! On that note, App and Bryce are at 100% too. And adding one more comment about trail reports, Timberline, Beech, Sugar, and Cat are all within one to two trails away.
The even crazier news is that Wintergreen (shown right) has decided to make April 6th their last day! Here are the details they share in their Mountain Message:
11 degrees at 7am! For those of you that are thinking Spring is here and that our snow is melting away...... These cold temperatures and more snow in the forecast Saturday night and Sunday, you need to think again! We have more snow this late in the month of March than any of us can remember.
Note: discounts apply to lift tickets and GLS packages only
The bummer news for the day is that Timberline announced when their last day will be. We knew it was coming, but conditions are so great right now, you hate to see them end. They'll be closed this coming week from Monday through Wednesday, and then reopen for Easter Weekend on Thursday (a day earlier than originally planned on account of so many requests) and close for the season on Sunday, March 31st. On their Facebook page, just a few minutes ago, they shared this regarding their confirmed date: To give you some perspective here on our closing dates a nearby Maryland resort will not commit to being open on the last weekend of March much less the last week of March. They say "It's "weather dependent." If we're open, we're open, it's weather dependent. If we are not, we are not." We are stating what we are doing up front as openly as possible. I think we can all appreciate that.
By the way, I feel silly for the recent bet I made - about them seeing over 200 inches of snowfall this season. I made the comment when they were at, what was it, 196 inches or so... and they beat it within the next two days. To date, they've seen 202.7 inches. Who knows what it'll be come Easter.
That's it for announcements, but with all the changes, you're probably having a hard time keeping track. Take a look below to see who's doing what:
Beech - FINAL WEEKEND! Closing Sat, March 23 looking good >>
App - FINAL WEEKEND! Closing Sun, March 24
