Straight from their site…

"With only 2 nights of marginal snowmaking, Appalachian Ski Mtn. does not currently have adequate snow levels or conditions to permit skiing or riding this weekend. All ASM staff will be watching the weather closely, and hope to resume snowmaking as soon as temperatures permit; sometime mid-week next week.

Unfortunately temperatures did not reach the predicted lows for Wednesday Night, November 29. The forecasted low was 23 degrees, and the actual low for the evening was 27 degrees. Wind ceased and this coupled with clear skies created a strong temperature inversion, leaving the top of the mountain above freezing very early Thursday morning.

Snowmakers were making the best of the situation, but with rising temperatures were forced to shut down snowmaking around 5am Thursday morning.

Stay posted to www.appskimtn.com for updated snowmaking and opening day information as it becomes available.

The Main Office and our Alpine Ski Shop will be open Saturday, December 3 from 9am – 5pm, and Sunday, December 4 from 1 – 5pm."
