And Then There Were Five

Hmmm… well there isn't too much to write about this morning… EXCEPT THAT WE NOW HAVE FIVE SKI RESORTS OPEN! Almost a third of the way there (if you're waiting for the other 11) 🙂 As you're all well aware, Beech and App both opened less than two hours ago, and Snowshoe, Cat, and Sugar are well underway.

Beech Mountain Resort opened with five trails and four lifts and are putting in a full day from 9am to 10pm.
Here's a Peek >>
Their base depth is 14 – 30" with packed powder as the primary surface . Beech's Facebook page is buzzing with fans sharing their excitement. One user wrote "See you in two hours flat from NOW!!! Can't wait." Another added, "Pretty jealous! It is raining pretty hard here in Tahoe. Happy shredding, folks."

App Ski Mountain kicked off their 51st season today with the first 100 guests to the Ticket Cashier receiving a FREE ski ticket! They opened four lifts and four trails, one of which is AppalJack –  a freestyle terrain. Their base depth is 10 – 20 " with groomed snow conditions. In honor of their 50th Anniversary, they're offering day session ski tickets at their original price (in 1962) of $5 from Saturday through Monday.

Snowshoe is up to 'all good.'

They expanded another 36 acres today for a total of 78 acres of open terrain. I received an email from Snowshoe's Ed Schneider early this morning that put everything into perspective. "…we didn't even plan on being open for another week!  And here we are, still in November and our trail count is going up again.  We added 2 new blue slopes today, Gandy Dancer and Skipjack.  Silver creek reopens today and it should be a beautiful sunny weekend."

I know we're all holding our breath for this season to be better than the last, and dying for that one meteorologist to give us a straight up, concrete 'thumbs up' or 'thumbs down.' No one wants to jump the gun and make the wrong forecast, and understandably so. However, with absolutely no background in weather, I'm doing it – I'm alleging that this season is going to kick last season's butt. Personally, I think it's already better, and I haven't even gotten out yet.

Not much is new with Cat and Sugar. Sugar is offering all sessions, with Cat open until 4:30pm still.

Nonetheless, the keyword is OPEN! As long as they're not going backwards and losing ground, all is well!

You may have heard by now, TOMORROW starts our 25 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS GIVEAWAYS! Stay tuned to see how you can win a FREE PASS tomorrow.

Enjoy your weekend on the snow!
