What a beautiful day it was to be in the mountains! It only snowed a little more than the 9am update this morning, but you’d hardly know it because about mid morning the temps creeped up just enough to change the snow to a light misty drizzle. Most areas have reported that what is laying on the ground right now is about one-half of what we had at 9am. We were over at Sugar and Banner Elk at 4pm and we can verify that. However, at about 4pm the snows started falling again and it was snowing pretty good at Banner Elk Cafe at 4:30 this afternoon.

Most areas of the High Country are reporting from 6" to 11" of snow across the region. We’ve had about 10" at my home and that has compacted to about 7" of so as of 5:30pm. More is on the way!

Let the second half begin! – After a lengthly halftime show, it looks like the snow has set back in and according to the forecast, we should see some more significant snowfall tonight and throughout the day on Tuesday. Along with this round of snow…comes COLDER temperatures and some wind. Regardless, it’s SNOW and it’s beautiful!

We’ve received some nice photos and if you get a chance…drop us yours…along with snowtotals where you are!
