On Snow

Arrived at the Canaan Lodge at around 11:30pm with a light rain that continued throughout the night heavy at times. I wasn’t sure what to expect when we arrived at the slopes around 9am. Found the base to be at least 12 inches in most spots with no bare spots to be seen. Conditions were pretty icy early in the morning with some loose granular. 7 good runs were open with one "black" and one "blue" from mid station; all other slopes were green. Slopes were not crowded at all with no lift lines whatsoever. Able to ski down and hop right onto a lift. As the day went on conditions seemed to get better. Night skiing was awesome with only about 20 people on slopes; 7 of us being from my group. Still a little icy but easier to stay in control, and definitely a little better than earlier in the day with loose granular. Over the night some snow was able to be put down covering the few sketchy spots. Conditions were the best of any, still a little wet granular though.

Although there were only 7 slopes open, the semi-good conditions and no lift lines made up for it. Be sure to check out the Photos of the Day for Canaan Valley to see images
