Joe Stevens has some crazy ideas from time to time. Some would say daily but that is a topic for another day. Anyway Joe called me this morning as he was preparing to meet with other West Virginia Ski Industry officials and the Governor of the great state of West Virginia to meet and collectively declare January as Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month.

Obviously West Virginia and all of the resort states nationwide have been offering great learn to ski and ride packages and deals all month long but WV likes to make it official and Joe suggested to at least ATTEMPT to broadcast it via a LIVE STREAM from the state capitol this morning. We figured we'd give it a whirl.

The time for the scheduled news conference today at the State Capitol with Governor Tomblin and the West Virginia Ski Areas Association has been moved to 11:30 am (instead of 10:30 am).  Here are the details:

MEDIA ADVISORY: GOVERNOR TOMBLIN AND WEST VIRGINIA SKI INDUSTRY OFFICIALS RECOGNIZE JANUARY AS LEARN TO SKI AND SNOWBOARD MONTH IN WV, THURSDAY, JANUARY 24, 2013 AT GOVERNOR’S RECEPTION ROOM

What:

The 2013 ski season has gotten off to a good start for the West Virginia Ski Industry with favorable weather conditions and visitation is up this season after last year’s mild weather start. Nationally, January is Learn To Ski and Snowboard Month and the West Virginia Resorts, thanks to Governor Earl Ray Tomblin, have participated in on the month long event.  The Governor on Thursday will be proclaiming through his office, that January has been officially Learn To Ski and Snowboard Month in West Virginia.  West Virginia Ski Resorts are coming off a very strong Martin Luther King Holiday weekend, as all are reporting improved numbers over last year. The national promotion is designed to attract new skiers and snowboarders into a sport which will help the state’s resorts grow.

When/Where:

The news conference will be held at Governor’s Reception Room 11:30 am – 11:50 am.

Details:
All of the West Virginia Ski Industry along with state tourism officials will be on hand for the event and will be available for interviews after the news conference.

Any questions as it pertains to the event and media coverage should be directed to Joe Stevens at 304-382-1133 (C).
